| Joe Saeba Ryo Saeba is a "Sweeper", a sort of bodyguard/private detective who provides protection and law enforcement that the police cannot. His cases begin when troubled persons go to the Shinjuku Station and leave a brief note underneath the letters "XYZ" on a certain chalkboard. If they are lucky, and generally beautiful women, he accepts the job. Ryo's skill with firearms is legendary. He packs a .357 Colt "Python" which he once fired through his own left hand to ensure that the bullet would not go through his intended target and hit an innocent bystander. His fantastic skill as a marksman is counterbalanced by his equally unbelievable lechery towards beautiful women (that is why he tends to accept their cases). He switches back and forth, like Dr. Jekyl and Mister Hyde, between the fearless Sweeper and the perverted Peeping Tom. Often times, the only thing keeping him behaving responsibly towards women is his tomboyish partner, Kaori Makimura, and the gigantic mallet she is capable of producing out of thin air. Still, you can't help liking Ryo, who always gets the job done and is clearly good at heart. |
